The natural dyes were extracted at different potential hydrogen (pH) values. The spectroscopy and fluorescence quantum yield were determined for annatto and anthocyanin. These solutions were evaluated as a possible pH indicator for adulterated milk.

In this work the CdS nanocrystals (NC) photoluminescence quantum efficiency (η) was determined by thermal lens technique. Due the high NC diameter a near-infrared emission is observed and η was determined η ~ 60%.
