Amplification results of a burst mode (0.05 - 1MHz, 1ms) laser system based on cryogenically cooled Yb:CaF2 are presented. Output powers of 7.4kW during the burst and 125mJ single pulse energy were achieved.

Various alumino silicate glasses (network modifier ions: Li+, Mg2+, Zn2+ and/or La3+) doped with 1 × 1020 Yb3+ cm−3 (about 0.2 mol% Yb2O3) were prepared. The glasses were studied with respect to their thermo-mechanical and fluorescence properties.
