The oxygen-avid, homooctameric hemoglobin of Ascaris (AH) has an unusual structure. Each polypeptide consists of two tandem globin folds followed by a highly charged COOH-terminal tail that contains four direct repeats of His-Lys-Glu-Glu (HKEE). Dele
