Simultaneous ultra-intense pulses at petawatt laser facilities enable a broad range of experiments in nuclear photonics and strong field quantum electrodynamics. These experiments often require very precise control of the time delays between pulses.

With ultrafast laser systems reaching presently 10 PW peak power or operating at high repetition rates, research towards ensuring the long-term, trouble-free performance of all laser-exposed optical components is critical. Our work is focused on prov

The thin-film post-compression technique has the ability to reduce the pulse duration in PW-class lasers, increasing the peak power. Here, the nonlinear response of an increasingly available optical thermoplastic demonstrates enhanced spectral broade

Ultra-intense laser pulses with helical phases are of interest in laser-driven charged particle acceleration and related experiments with extreme light. However, such optical vortices can be affected by the presence of residual spatial-temporal coupl

A spectroscopic study of the gold nanoparticle (NP) formation by high-intensity femtosecond laser irradiation of a gold ion solution was reported. The effect of varying energy density of the laser on the formation of gold NPs was also investigated. T

In ultra-intense chirped pulse amplification laser systems, pulses of ultrashort duration and high energy are generated using large spectral bandwidths and large beam diameters. Hence, the spatiotemporal couplings of the laser field can become signif

Shock waves are generated when a laser pulse ablates a thin jet of water. The shocks have irregular initial shapes, but they flatten and generate secondary shocks as they propagate inside the jet. The shocks can then travel together over long distanc
