This chapter presents the practical applications of hydroxypyrimide fungicides, and their chemical, physical, and toxicological properties. Although there may be in vitro effects of these hydroxypyrimides on some fungal pathogens, in practical terms

Surveys of the benzimidazole sensitivity of Rhynchosporium secalis isolates collected from winter barley crops throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland were carried out in the early 1990s. In Northern Ireland, the frequency of highly benzimidaz

The alpha-tubulin genes from Septoria tritici and Rhynchosporium secalis have been cloned and sequenced. The predicted amino acid sequence and intron structure showed strong homology with other known filamentous fungal alpha-tubulins. Comparison of s

Amphotericin B resistant mutants of Cryptococcus neoformans were isolated accumulating mainly ergosterol. Cross-resistance to azole antifungals was not observed. Together with previous data this indicates that at least three categories of amphoterici

Visual diagnosis of fungal diseases is often inaccurate, whilst detecting fungicide resistance using bioassays may be too slow to allow effective anti-resistance strategies to be implemented in time. Immunology and DNA probe technology offer ways to

Thirty single-spore isolates of Rhynchosporium secalis were assayed in vitro to assess relative sensitivities to the fungicide triadimenol. Minimum inhibitory concentrations ranged from 0.2 to 3.2 μg/ml. Isolates collected in 1981 from winter barley
