The ratio of the rotational Raman gain coefficients g of N(2) [S(8), 0.91 amagat] and H(2) [S(1), 0.73 amagat] was determined at 295 K by measuring the 5% conversion threshold for each in the same focused configuration, using a circularly polarized 1

An XeF pumped vapor phase POPOP dye laser with a pulse duration of 300 ns was obtained when trans-stilbene was used as triplet quencher. An energy conversion efficiency of 7,5% with a peak power efficiency of 12% was measured.

A kinetic model of the sustained discharge Ar/HgBr2 laser is developed from an experimental base. The choice of Ar as the buffer gas is supported by measurements of the specific fluorescence and laser efficiency in the buffer mixtures (Ar, Ar+5% Xe,

The HgBr(B–X) transition forms the basis of an efficient laser at 502 nm. The HgBr(B) state is produced by electric discharge in gas mixtures containing HgBr2. We report measurements of the HgBr(B–X) fluorescence efficiency as a function of elect

Experiments have been performed to measure the degree to which the phase information on an input Stokes beam can be preserved in a hydrogen Raman amplifier in the presence of phase and intensity nonuniformities on the pump beam. The experiments were

The ratio of forward Raman conversion thresholds for linearly and circularly polarized laser light has been measured in low-Fresnel-number configurations for the strongest rotational Raman transitions of N(2) and H(2). In both cases the ratio is foun
