The LOFAR Two-metre Sky Survey (LoTSS) is a deep 120-168 MHz imaging survey that will eventually cover the entire Northern sky. Each of the 3170 pointings will be observed for 8 hrs, which, at most declinations, is sufficient to produce ~5arcsec reso

Carbon occurs in many different polymeric forms, but nitrogen and oxygen do not. Beginning with the hydrogen polyoxides of general formula H2On, we look into the reasons for this observation. Calculations show that the geometry of an oxygen chain is

We present high resolution MERLIN radio images of multiple relativistic ejections from GRS 1915+105 in 1997 October / November. The observations were made at a time of complex radio behaviour, corresponding to multiple optically-thin outbursts and se

On 27 July 1994 the Burst and Transient Source Experiment (BATSE) on the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory detected an outburst of high energy X-rays from a previously unknown source in the constellation Scorpius. This source was designated GRO J1655-40.

The X-ray "Nova" Ophiuchi 1993, GRS 1716-249 (=GRO J1719-24), discovered in 1993 September, was redetected as an X-ray source by the Mir/Kvant team on 1995 February 16, and later by BATSE. Radio observations by the Molonglo Observatory Synthesis Tele

The recent discovery of radio components apparently moving away from a Galactic source of transient X-ray emission faster than the speed of light (superluminal motion) has identified a low-energy Galactic counterpart to quasars. Here we report high-r

Mouse erythrocyte guanine deaminase has been purified to homogeneity. The native enzyme was dimeric, being comprised of two identical subunits of approximately 50,000 Da. The protein sequence was obtained from five cyanogen bromide cleavage products

We present a progress report on MERLIN radio imaging of a radio outburst from GRS 1915+105. The major ejection occurred at the end of an approximately 20-day `plateau' state, characterised by low/hard X-ray fluxes and a relatively strong flat-spectru
