Objective: To report a case of Crowned Dens Syndrome (CDS), which is a rare disorder caused by crystal deposition by calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate in the peridontoid soft tissues surrounding the C1 and C2 vertebrae that presents in elderly with sud

Abstract Background Crowned dens syndrome (CDS) is characterized by calcification around the odontoid process, accompanied by neck pain. Although CDS is supposedly rare, we regularly diagnose and manage this condition, indicating a perception gap bet

We report two rare cases. One involved acute calcific retropharyngeal tendinitis, an inflammatory condition of the longus colli tendon triggered by the deposition of calcium hydroxyapatite crystals. The other involved crowned dens syndrome, caused by

Background‘Crowned dens syndrome' (CDS) is a special form of calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate deposition disease which is characterized radiologically by a halo-like or crown-like distribution in the periodontoid region and clinically by cervical pa

Abstract Background There are few reports of cervical myelopathy caused by an attack of subaxial calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate (CPPD) deposition. Moreover, there has been no report on cervical myelopathy by subaxial CPPD deposition with simultaneou

Crowned Dens Syndrome (CDS) is the leading cause of acute neck pain and a major cause of reduced neck mobility. The diagnosis of CDS is challenging as clinicians currently have limited awareness of the symptoms of the disease. In this article, we rep
