Abstract Background MicroRNA-146a-5p (miR-146a-5p) is a key regulator of inflammatory processes. Expression of miR-146a-5p is altered in target organs of diabetic complications and deficiency of miR-146a-5p has been implicated in their pathogenesis.

Introduction: Low vitamin D and vitamin K status are both associated with cardiovascular disease risk. New evidence from experimental studies on bone health suggest an interaction between vitamin D and K, however, a joint association with vascular he

Introduction: Vitamin K is a fat soluble vitamin and is required as a co-factor for the carboxylation of several proteins. Matrix gla-protein (MGP) requires vitamin K for its activation and is a potent vascular calcification inhibitor. High concentra

Objective: To increase the understanding of circulating fatty acids (FA) as biomarkers of FA intake, we investigated (1) determinants of circulating proportions of linoleic acid (LA), alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docos

Background: A high consumption of the polyunsaturated fatty acids linoleic acid (LA) and alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) instead of saturated fatty acids is known to reduce CHD risk, but data on the relation between LA and ALA intake and Type 2 Diabetes M

Introduction Higher parathyroid hormone (PTH) concentrations have been associated with increased cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality, although data in the general population are scarce. Hypothesis We hypothesize that higher serum PTH concentration

Background: Low serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25OHD) levels have been associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Dysfunction of the vitamin D-parathyroid hormone (PTH)-calcium axis may play a role in the pathogenesis of heart failure. Hyp
