Abstract Huntington’s disease (HD) is a neurodegenerative disorder caused by a CAG repeat expansion in exon 1 of huntingtin (HTT). While there are currently no disease-modifying treatments for HD, recent efforts have focused on the development of n

Mutations in leucine-rich repeat kinase 2 gene (LRRK2) are the most frequent genetic factors contributing to Parkinson's disease (PD). G2385R-LRRK2 increases the risk for PD susceptibility in the Chinese population. However, the pathological role of

Huntington's disease (HD) is a neurodegenerative disease caused by a CAG repeat expansion in the Huntingtin gene (HTT), translated into a Huntingtin protein with a polyglutamine expansion. There is preferential loss of medium spiny neurons within the

Summary: The huntingtin (HTT) protein transports various organelles, including vesicles containing neurotrophic factors, from embryonic development throughout life. To better understand how HTT mediates axonal transport and why this function is disru

Mutations in transmembrane protein 230 (TMEM230) gene are suggested to be associated with the autosomal dominant Parkinson’s disease (PD) with typical movement disorders and Lewy body pathology. However, the normal functions and the pathological ro

Huntington’s disease (HD) is caused by misfolding of mutant Htt protein. The authors find that in HD models, the decreased expression of heat shock transcription factor 1 that usually protects against protein misfolding, is in part caused by elevat
