The scattering of electromagnetic waves by a resonator is determined by the excitation of the eigenmodes of the system. In the case of open resonators made of absorbing materials, the system is non-Hermitian, and the eigenmodes are quasinormal modes.

Reaching a regime of strong coupling between light and atoms is a long-sought goal in quantum optics, as it will enable non-linear optics at the photon level. Interfacing atoms with guided light in nanophotonic waveguides is a promising route to achi

Surface plasmons polaritons are mixed electronic and electromagnetic waves. They have become a workhorse of nanophotonics because plasmonic modes can be confined in space at the nanometer scale and in time at the 10 fs scale. However, in practice, pl

International audience; We theoretically study the emission of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) in cylindrical nanopatch antennas with sub-10 nm dielectric gaps. The eigenmodes of a nanopatch antenna can be classified as gap modes or antenna modes.

The interaction of light with photonic resonators is determined by the eigenmodes of the system. Modal theories based on quasinormal modes provide a natural tool to calculate and understand light scattering by nanoresonators. We show that, in the cas
