We measure the population distribution in one of the atomic twin beams generated by four-wave mixing in an optical lattice. Although the produced two-mode squeezed vacuum state is pure, each individual mode is described as a statistical mixture.

International audience; L’invention de la pince optique, c’est l’histoire d’un chercheur qui s’amuse mais qui avance méthodiquement et patiemment pour améliorer un concept simple jusqu’à en faire un outil indispensable dans deux domain

A collision of Bose-Einstein condensates is a useful source of single nonclassically correlated pairs of atoms. Here, we consider elastic scattering of atoms from elongated clouds taking into account an effective, finite duration of the collision due

Cold atom interferometers have demonstrated excellent performance and hold great prospects for time, gravity, acceleration and rotation measurements [1]. Trapped interferometers, for example using atom chips [2], can potentially enable portable appli

We report the experimental study of an atom-chip interferometer using ultracold rubidium 87 atoms above the Bose-Einstein condensation threshold. The observed dependence of the contrast decay time with temperature and with the degree of symmetry of t

We report on the single-atom-resolved measurement of the distribution of momenta $\ensuremath{\hbar}k$ in a weakly interacting Bose gas after a 330 ms time of flight. We investigate it for various temperatures and clearly separate two contributions t

We report a theoretical study of a double-well Ramsey interferometer using internal state labelling. We consider the use of a thermal ensemble of cold atoms rather than a Bose-Einstein condensate to minimize the effects of atomic interactions. To mai

Fifty years ago, Hanbury Brown and Twiss (HBT) discovered photon bunching in light emitted by a chaotic source, highlighting the importance of two-photon correlations and stimulating the development of modern quantum optics . The quantum interpretati
