We present a field demonstration of distributed vibration sensing with FDM-Φ-OTDR in a deployed optical fiber cable network. Additionally, we propose and verify a vibration trace analysis technique that can localize telecommunication facilities.

We propose a method for localizing telecommunication facilities in OTDR waveform. The method measures the change in the Brillouin gain bandwidth caused by the cable bending, and the facility location is determined from the bending point.

We propose a novel BOTDA that can measure a BFS change appearing on a time axis with a single-shot measurement by using a frequency-swept probe pulse. The proposed method employs a very simple laser control and detection system, without precise test

We propose and demonstrate a novel scheme for the Brillouin-based loss monitoring of branch sections in passive optical networks. The proposed scheme with a linearly frequency-swept pump pulse can compensate for the variation in the Brillouin gain pr

We propose a high-speed, dynamic strain measurement with random access based on real-time Brillouin time-domain analysis of correlated gain measured with an oscilloscope. A frequency-swept probe obtains the Lorentzian-shaped correlated gain in a time

Loss distributions of branched fibers in field-installed and in-service passive optical networks are measured from a central office for the first time by using end-reflection-assisted Brillouin analysis. The statistical properties of branch lengths,

We describe branched-fiber sensing with a novel Brillouin time-domain analysis configuration for temperature or strain sensing within a 2-D expanded area. By using a branch configuration with an appropriate number of branches and the newly proposed m
