International audience; We report the observation of nonlinear three-wave resonant interactions between two different branches of the dispersion relation of hydrodynamic waves, namely the gravity-capillary and sloshing modes. These atypical interacti

We report the observation of gravity-capillary waves on a torus of fluid. By means of an original technique, a stable torus is achieved by depositing water on a superhydrophobic groove with a shallow wedge-shaped channel running along its perimeter.

We study the shape and the geometrical properties of sessile drops with translational invariance (namely ‘liquid cylinders’) deposited upon a flat superhydrophobic substrate. We account for the flattening effects of gravity on the shape of the dr

A water cylinder deposited on a heated channel levitates on its own generated vapor film owing to the Leidenfrost effect. This experimental setup permits the study of the one-dimensional propagation of surface waves in a free-to-move liquid system. W

Simple explicit expressions describing stationary superflows around a circular disk are found by solving the Gross–Pitaevskii equation at low Mach numbers in the boundary layer approximation. The expression for the velocity potential presents both

The transition to dissipation in one-dimensional extended Hamiltonian systems with saddle-node bifurcations of stationary solutions is characterized. Three different systems are studied: (i) nonlinear Schrodinger flow past a localized obstacle; (ii)

Close to sinusoidal substrates, simple fluids may undergo a filling transition, in which the fluid passes from a dry to a filled state, where the interface remains unbent but bound to the substrate. Increasing the surface field, the interface unbinds
