We present the sixth list with results of the Hamburg/SAO Survey for Emission-Line Galaxies. The final list resulted from follow-up spectroscopy conducted with the 4.5m MMT telescope in 1996, and with 2.2m CAHA and 6m SAO telescopes in 2000 to 2003.

We report the discovery of a very large, spatially extended Ly alpha -emitting nebula at z=2.656 associated with a luminous mid-infrared source. The bright mid-infrared source (F(24um)=0.86 mJy) was first detected in observations made using the Spitz

The explosion that results in a cosmic gamma-ray burst (GRB) is thought to produce emission from two physical processes -- the activity of the central engine gives rise to the high-energy emission of the burst through internal shocking and the subseq

With the recent release of large (i.e., > hundred million objects), well-calibrated photometric surveys, such as DPOSS, 2MASS, and SDSS, spectroscopic identification of important targets is no longer a simple issue. In order to enhance the returns fr

Studies of the cosmic gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) and their host galaxies are starting to provide interesting or even unique new insights in observational cosmology. GRBs represent a new way of identifying a population of star-forming galaxies at cosmolo

Studies of the cosmic gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) and their host galaxies are now starting to provide interesting or even unique new insights in observational cosmology. Observed GRB host galaxies have a median magnitude R ~ 25 mag, and show a range of l

We report on the analysis of a large sample of 744 type 1 Active Galactic Nuclei, including quasars and Seyfert 1 galaxies across the redshift range from 0 < z < 5 and spanning nearly 6 orders of magnitude in continuum luminosity. We discuss correlat

We present spectroscopic observations with Keck/LRIS of LBQS 0015+0239, a pair of quasars at z = 2.45 with a separation of $\Delta\theta = 2.2$ arcsec (projected linear distance of 17.8 $h_{70}^{-1}$ kpc, for $\Omega_m = 0.3$, $\Lambda = 0.7$). Lensi

The results of the N/O abundance determination in a sample of low-metallicity blue compact dwarf (BCD) galaxies based on new spectroscopic observations with large telescopes (Keck, VLT, MMT, 4m KPNO) are presented. We show that the N/O abundance rati

We use the NIRSPEC near-IR spectrometer on Keck II to obtain moderate resolution (R = 1540) spectroscopy that shows conclusively that the C IV emission line in the z = 5.74 quasar SDSSp J104433.04-012502.2 is accompanied by broad, blueshifted C IV ab
