The hydrogen Balmer series was observed when beams of H+, H 2 + , H 3 + and D+, D 2 + , D 3 + ions impinged at 100–1000 eV on a carbon fiber composite tile (Tore Supra). The excitation functions of the Hβ (Dβ) lines demonstrate the validity of th

Emission of atomic hydrogen in the Balmer series was observed when H + , H 2 + and H 3 + ions with energies in the 30–1000 eV range were scattered on a polycrystalline tungsten surface. The spectra show that even at these low energies, the constitu

The title reaction has been studied spectroscopically, using N(2D) atoms (15–100 eVlab) generated by N+ + Xe charge transfer. At 5 eVCM the cross-section is ∼7 times greater than for the analogous N(4S) reaction measured previously, due to an adi

Colliding a beam of metastable Kr atoms with an N 2 gas target, the resulting N 2 (B 3 Π g → A 3 Σ + u ) emission was observed with a spectral resolution of up to 0.15 nm fwhm. Optical multichannel detection was employed, using a cooled diode arr

A beam of atomic nitrogen ions N + collided with the gas target of O 2 molecules at energies between 20 and 1000 eV in the laboratory frame. The O 2 + (A-X) and O 2 + (b-a) luminescence and several atomic lines of neutral and ionized oxygen were obse

Fast N( 2 D) atoms colliding with CH 4 at 10–200 eV CM yield CH(A,B), NH(A) and H( n ⩾4) emission. From 10 to 50 eV CM the CH yield decreases, exceeding greatly that for N( 4 S) and N + ( 3 P) + CH 4 collisions. This indicates N( 2 D) insertion.

A beam of N ( 4 S ) atoms at energies in the 10–1000 eV range was generated by near-resonant charge transfer of N + ( 3 P ) ions with krypton atoms. Chemiluminescence was observed upon collisions of the hyperthermal N atoms with H2 molecules at ene

Jet-cooled glyoxal molecules were excited on the T 1 ( 3 A u )← S 0 ( 1 A g ) transition. The frequencies of 62 bands in the T1→S0 phosphorescence excitation spectrum between 19 120 and 21 400 cm−1 were determined to within ±2 cm−1. 25 bands

Metastable NH* radicals in a molecular beam, generated in a discharge, were allowed to collide with target particles (He through Xe rare gas atoms, and H2, CO, N2, NO, O2) in a cell or a crossed jet. Optical emission was observed issuing from the col

Specific rovibrational levels of the E0g+ ion-pair state of Cl2 have been laser excited by optical–optical double resonance (OODR) via the B0u+ state. A two-color, single-laser visible+ultraviolet (VIS+UV) scheme was used, where the UV radiation wa
