A large moraine system extends along the continental slope of Baffin Island, Canada, according to swath bathymetry and acoustic profiler data, which suggests that an ice shelf of 500 m thickness covered Baffin Bay during the Last Glacial Maximum.

During a long period of its Cenozoic history, the Arctic Ocean was isolated from any global thermohaline circulation system. Thus, the opening and subsequent widening of the Fram Strait, the only deep-water connection between the Arctic and Atlantic

The North Anatolian Fault (NAF), located in Turkey, is one of the world's most active faults and accommodates Anatolia's westward motion relative to Eurasia. Over the last century, several earthquakes (M>6.8) have migrated from east to west. It is in

Manicouagan, the ‘Eye of Québec’, is an annular-shaped impact structure located in northeastern Canada (51˚N). The completion of a large hydroelectric dam in 1970 CE flooded two 60-km long lakes that were located on east and west sides of the i

Despite the importance of Arctic sea-ice in the global climate system, a paucity of pre-Quaternary sedimentary archives limits our understanding of its long-term history. Here, based on ancient sediments revealed by submarine landslides, the authors

Here we present dense acoustic and swath bathymetry data sets as well as geological age constraints that allow a new view on past glacial processes at the Siberian termination of Lomonosov Ridge in the Arctic Ocean between 81° and 84° 20′ N. Here

Lakes in formerly glaciated areas are prone to provide valuable paleoclimate archives, which contain information about the glacial processes influencing the region in which the lakes formed. The eastern Canadian provinces Québec, Newfoundland and La

Understanding past water-level changes are essential to human development. Changes in lake levels can result in the displacement of populations due to rising water levels, or be a limiting factor in the case of irrigation for agriculture or in terms
