Two improved charge-transfer amplifiers (CTAs), used as zero-static-bias comparator preamplifiers in flash analog-digital converters, are proposed. The first improvement eliminates the capacitive coupling at the amplifier input, reducing area and inp

A 2.7-V sigma-delta modulator with a 6-bit quantizer is fabricated in a 0.18-/spl mu/m CMOS process. The modulator makes use of noise-shaped dynamic element matching (DEM) and quantizer offset chopping to attain high linearity over a wide bandwidth.

The design of a mixed-signal random number generator (RNG) integrated circuit (IC) suitable for integration with hardware cryptographic systems is presented. Certain applications in cryptography require the use of a truly RNG, a device which produces

A popular method for generating truly random numbers based on a natural phenomenon is the electronic amplification and sampling of a thermal or shot noise signal. As ail electronic systems are influenced by finite bandwidth, 1/f noise and other non-r

The design of integrated-circuit random number generators is receiving increased attention for the purpose of secure communications. Many high-speed cryptographic circuit-systems require a nondeterministic source of random bits. The security of these

The design of a random bit generator (random number generator) IC, with analog sub-circuits and suitable for integration with VLSI cryptographic systems, is presented. Certain applications in cryptography require the production of an unpredictable an
