The UV. spectra of several isoprenoid compounds measured with a vacuum grating spectrometer are reported. The additivity of the molar extinction coefficients of molecules containing several isolated trisubstituted aliphatic double bonds is shown.

It is shown how the proton structure of even complicated naturally occurring molecules can be resolved by high resolution nuclear magnetic resonance. This information is used for the structural elucidation of these molecules.
