Measurements of the electrical conductivity and the Hall coefficient have been made on polycrystalline yttrium-doped tungsten oxide, YxWO3, for 0.05 ≤ x ≤ 0.20. This range of x includes the predicted metal–insulator transition. The results are

The phenomenological two-fluid model involving localized and itinerant electrons has been successful in explaining zero-field thermodynamic measurements in disordered metal-insulator systems such as Si:P. We have extended this model to include the ef

Measurements of temperature dependent photoluminescence (PL) of Sn‐implanted InSe were carried between 5 K and room temperature (RT). We observe two broad structures in the PL spectra: one in the vicinity of E1≊2.2 eV and another at E2≊1.8 eV.

Electrical transport measurements have been made on a series of trivalent-ion-doped tungsten bronzes MxWO3, with M = Y (0.05 ≤ x ≤ 0.12) or La (0.05 ≤ x ≤ 0.19), over the temperature range 2-300 K. The results are consistent with a metal-insu

The localized-moment contribution to the specific heat of Si:P in the vicinity of the metal-insulator transition has been calculated as a function of temperature and magnetic field. The magnetic susceptibility has also been obtained and compared with

The van der Pauw technique is commonly used for electrical transport measurements on solid materials and is suited to thin, arbitrarily shaped samples, with the contacts placed anywhere on the periphery. Previous investigations have determined the ef

The specific heat has been calculated as a function of temperature and magnetic field for Si:P on the insulating side of the metal-insulator transition. A small cluster approach, involving spin pairs or triads, is used and the predictions are found t
