In this paper, we develop a sensitive optical method to monitor the surface roughness in the investigation of surfaces. By applying this method to measure the RMS surface roughness of various surfaces, we found RMS values which are comparable to thos

Sound velocity changes of unpolarized polycrystalline BaTiO3, in the diamond anvil cell (DAC) up to 6.8 GPa, across the tetragonal to cubic phase transition at room temperature (RT) have been detected by a photoacoustic technique. The light absorptio

Using Raman spectroscopy, with an excitation radiation source of 514.5 nm, and principal component analysis (PCA) was elaborated a method to study qualitatively the ethanol content in tequila samples. This method is based in the OH region profile (wa

We present a novel synchronization scheme for secure communication with two chaotic unidirectionally coupled Rossler circuits. The circuits are synchronized via one of the variables, while a signal is transmitted through another variable. We show tha

The potential of Raman spectroscopy in the quantitative analysis of dilute organic contaminants on aluminum substrates is evidenced in this work. Methyl-parathion microdroplets, an organophosphorus pesticide, has been used as a probe for this purpose

The capability to obtain quantitative information of a simple way from Raman spectra is a subject of considerable interest. In this work, this is demonstrated for mixtures of ethanol with water and rhodamine-6G (R-6G) with methanol, which were analyz

The distribution of proteins in the cross section of a normal pig lens was studied by near-infrared Raman spectroscopy. The Raman spectra were measured in the visual and equatorial axes of this cross section and the protein peak intensities were dete

A micro-Raman system is used to study the β-carotene of dry and fresh carrot samples in environments with variations of the temperature between 16 o C and 120 o C. It is shown that the Raman peaks intensities of the dry sample diminish considerably,

The possibility of secure communication with chaos is demonstrated experimentally with two simple unidirectionally coupled electronic circuits. A traditional approach has been used to synchronize the two chaotic systems. We also study, both numerical
