A diagnosis of acute monocytic leukemia(AML-M5) based on α-naphthyl butyrateesterase (α-NB) staining has some problems, because AML-M5 leukemic cells often showweak or faint positivity on α-NB staining. Inthese situations, some cases of AML-M5tend

Clinical identification of the pathogenic bacterium Moraxella catarrhalis in cultures relies on the detection of bacterial butyrate esterase (C4-esterase) using a coumarin-based fluorogenic substrate, 4-methylumbelliferyl butyrate. However, this clas

Fish are the most diverse species of all vertebrate groups, and their blood cells have shown variable characteristics in terms of morphology. Cytochemical staining for enzyme activity in blood leukocytes will help assess the immune function of fish.
