Amorphous metal magnetic cores are essential in developing pulse power systems due to their high magnetic saturation value. In order to operate in multipulse mode, the magnetic cores must provide enough volt-seconds before reaching saturation. They m

The experimental results of a five stage distributed energy source railgun are presented. The advantages of such a scheme are increased efficiency due to less energy remaining in the railgun inductance and lower rail resistive losses. The design is a

A method of analyzing Faraday rotation data from pulsed magnetic field measurements is described. The method uses direct least-squares elliptical fitting to measured data. The least-squares fit conic parameters are used to rotate, translate, and resc

We are converting a quad of NIF beamlines into eight, short-pulse (1–50 ps), petawatt-class beams for advanced radiography and fast ignition experiments. This paper describes progress toward completing this project.
