We demonstrate the first asynchronous 2×2 optical packet switch capable of synchronizing, buffering, and forwarding 10 Gb/s packets generated from independent transmitters with better than 99% packet recovery measured using a burst mode receiver.

We demonstrate a 40Gbps dynamically re-sizable optical buffer capable of storing packets of lengths ranging from 40 to 800 bytes. Packet recovery measurements greater than 95% demonstrate a dynamic operating range of 5dB.

Integrated optical RAM using InP switches with silica waveguide delays perform contention resolution with 99% packet recovery for 40-byte packets. Two buffered inputs and two packet depths are demonstrated.
