Background Angiography-derived physiological assessment of coronary lesions has emerged as an alternative to wire based assessment aiming at less-invasiveness and shorter procedural time as well as cost effectiveness in physiology-guided decision mak

Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS)–guided percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) has been shown in clinical trials, registries, and meta-analyses to reduce recurrent major adverse cardiovascular events after PCI. However, IVUS utilization remains lo

To the Editor: In cardiac arrest, systemic hypothermia initiated after resuscitation has been shown to improve survival and long-term neurologic outcome ([1,2][1]). Systemic hypothermia established before cardiac arrest improved the defibrillation su

When systemic hypothermia was maintained before inducing cardiac arrest, the likelihood of successful defibrillation and meaningful survival was increased. When hypothermia is induced during cardiopulmonary resuscitation, mortality is also improved.

Objective: Employing transnasal head-cooling in a pig model of prolonged ventricular fibrillation, we compared the effects of 4 hrs of head-cooling started during cardiopulmonary resuscitation with those of 8 hrs of surface-cooling started at 2 hrs a

Background— Transnasal evaporative cooling has sufficient heat transfer capacity for effective intra-arrest cooling and improves survival in swine. The aim of this study was to determine the safety, feasibility, and cooling efficacy of prehospital
