ω-(3-Indolyl)alkyl bromides, the structure of which was confirmed by alternative synthesis fromω-(3-indolyl)alkanols, were obtained by a modified Borodin-Hunsdiecker reaction from mercury salts ofω-(3-indolyl)alkanoie acids.

The alkylation of indole by polyesters of ω-hydroxyalkanoic acids was studied. The optimum conditions and ratios of the reacting substances were found, and a number of ω-(3-indolyl)alkanoic acids were obtained.
