Six chickpea strains were analysed for their protein content and various protein fractions. The protein content ranged from 20.9-25.27%. Albumin, globulin, prolamin and glutelin contents ranged from 8.39-12.31%; 53.44-60.29%; 3.12-6.89% and 19.38-24.

SUMMARYEight cultivars of peas (Pisum sativumL.) were evaluated for six traits in a diallel experiment using regression coefficients, correlations and combining ability estimates. Regression coefficient was high, indicating large additive effects for

Selection in the F3 generation for seed yield, fruiting branches/plant, effective pods/plant, and seed index (100-seed weight) was carried out in two chickpea crosses. Sixty F5 lines (15 lines/selection criterion) along with check variety were evalua

SUMMARYSignificant differences were found between 20 chickpea cultivars and four locations in respect of the concentration of protein in the seeds. Cultivar x location interactions were also significant. The average protein concentration among cultiv

The principle neurotoxic factor in the seeds ofL. sativus has been identified as β-N-oxalylamino alanine (BOAA) by Rao, Adiga & Sarma (1964) and Murti et al. (1964) which causes lathyrism. The content of BOAA in the seeds is affected significantly b

Four lines of pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.) ware selected for variability in protein content and were used as parents in crosses. The F2 mean protein contents were generally between the parents, but slightly closer to the low-protein parent.

SUMMARYA diallel analysis of flowering time, pod number, 100-seed weight and yield of six cultivars ofCajanus cajan(L.) Millsp. was studied. Additive inheritance was important in determining flowering time, but the dominance component was higher than
