Accurate investigations of quantum-level energies in molecular systems are shown to provide a testing ground to constrain the size of compactified extra dimensions. This is made possible by recent progress in precision metrology with ultrastable lase

The aim of this paper is to study orientifolds of c = 1 conformal field theories. A systematic analysis of the allowed orientifold projections for c = 1 orbifold conformal field theories is given. We compare the Klein bottle amplitudes obtained at ra

The BRST invariance condition in a highest-weight representation of the topological (≡ twisted N=2) algebra captures the ‘invariant’ content of two-dimensional gravity coupled to matter. The topological algebra allows reductions to either the D

The BRST invariance condition in a highest-weight representation of the topological ($\equiv$ twisted $N=2$) algebra captures the `invariant' content of two-dimensional gravity coupled to matter. The standard DDK formulation is recovered by splitting

A direct relation between the conformal formalism for 2d-quantum gravity and the W-constrained KP hierarchy is found, without the need to invoke intermediate matrix model technology. The Kontsevich-Miwa transform of the KP hierarchy is used to establ

Simple currents have been used previously to construct various examples of modular invariant partition functions for given rational conformal field theories. In this paper we present for a large class of such theories (namely those with a center that

Using renormalization group techniques is spontaneously broken supergravity grand unified theories we show that quantum effects can produce the breaking of SU(5). We use a model in which the gauge group is unbroken at the level. The supergravity-indu
