Measurements of the cluster size (n) distribution of secondary (UOx)+n ions from sputtering of uranium dioxide (UO2) by Ne8+, Ar8+ and Xeq+ ions (q=10, 23) at fixed kinetic energy (81 keV) have been performed with a time-of-flight mass spectrometer.

In this contribution we present new experimental results for swift heavy ion irradiation under grazing incidence. This particular collision geometry forces the track formation to a region close to the surface, sometimes visible as a chain of individu

Electronic sputtering with heavy ions as a function of both electronic energy loss d E /d x and projectile charge state q was studied at the French heavy ion accelerator GANIL. Amorphous carbon (untreated, and sputter-cleaned and subsequently exposed

Optical absorption induced by swift heavy-ion irradiations in AlN was studied in situ at 15 K. Detailed analysis of the influence of both electronic and nuclear stopping power indicates that the electronic energy loss does not create the point defect

We show that the work function of exfoliated single layer graphene can be modified by irradiation with swift (E_{kin}=92 MeV) heavy ions under glancing angles of incidence. Upon ion impact individual surface tracks are created in graphene on SiC. Due

In order to answer the long-standing question, if silicon surfaces can be damaged by swift heavy ions, a set-up to study ion-irradiation damage of reactive surfaces is presented. This set-up allows for the first time to avoid oxidization of the silic

For impact of very slow highly charged ions on single crystal surfaces the appearance of hillocks can be linked to a threshold in potential energy while for swift heavy ions a minimum electronic energy loss per unit length is necessary. Recent invest
