We describe a radiochemical measurement of the ratio of isotope concentrations produced in a gold hohlraum surrounding an Inertial Confinement Fusion capsule at the National Ignition Facility (NIF). We relate the ratio of the concentrations of (n,γ)

Charge-exchange processes in fast collisions of F{sup {ital q}+} ({ital q}=2--9) on Ne and Ar gas targets have been studied using the projectile--recoil-ion coincidence method. The target ionization without a projectile charge change increases with i

We have measured the mass and total kinetic energy distributions from the spontaneous fission of 252No, 254No, 256[104] and 258[104]. The results, in combination with earlier measurements for 256No, 258No and 262No, show a sharp transition from asymm

Charge state distributions of He, Ne, Ar, Kr, and Xe ions produced in single collisions with alpha particles and fission fragments from the decay of 252 Cf have been measured using time of flight spectrometry. The measurements reveal that the maximum

An electron-cyclotron-resonance (ECR) ion source has been constructed to provide highly charged ions for injection into the K500 superconducting cyclotron. The source is also available approximately 30% of the time for use in experiments independent

Time-of-flight (TOF) spectroscopy has been applied to the identification and study of ionic species produced in fast ion-molecule collisions. By optimizing the resolution of the TOF spectrometer employed, kinetic energies have been determined for the

A model is developed for the treatment of multielectron ionization and exchange processes in fast ion-atom collisions under the condition that electron-electron interactions may be neglected. The model specifically takes into account ionization and c

A new radiochemical method for determining deuterium-tritium (DT) fuel and plastic ablator (CH) areal densities (ρR) in high-convergence, cryogenic inertial confinement fusion implosions at the National Ignition Facility is described. It is based on

Beams of fully stripped nitrogen ions have been used to investigate the behavior of the double-to-single ionization cross-section ratio of helium in the 10--30-MeV/amu velocity region. The measured ratio was found to remain nearly constant over this
