We introduce the Shannon dimensionality D to quantify the capacity of quantum channels. This is applied to angular entanglement of photons. Experimentally, D varies from 3 to 6 and values up to 50 are feasible.

We pass twin photons through rotatable angular phase-plates and detect entanglement which has a continuously variable azimuthal dimension. Experimentally, this dimension has been varied from 2.2 to 3; values up to 100 are practically feasible.
