Inclusion of traces of (Z)-11-hexadecenol in synthetic sex lure traps for bertha armyworm moths resulted in diminished trapping; substantial amounts of (Z)-9-hexadecenol or (Z)-11-hexadecenal were also suppressant. Of 22 other oxyolefins tested, (Z)-

Selected primary (Z)-alkenals and (Z)-alkenyl acetates (odd-numbered unsaturation positions, even-numbered carbon chains C10–C16) were field tested in three groups for ability to attract male moths into traps. Within each group all possible combina

Attractants were found for males of 12 moth species: Acronicta grisea Walker, Andropolia contacta Walker, Argyrotaenia dorsalana Dyar, Chrysaspidia putnami (Grote), Chrysaspidia venusta Walker, Eurythmia hospitella Zeller, Exartema appendiceum Zeller

All four geometrical isomers of 5,7-dodecadien-1-ol have been stereoselectively synthesized by using Wittig condensation reactions. (5 Z,7E)-5,7-Dodecadien-1-ol and its corresponding aldehyde are components of the sex pheromone of the forest tent cat

Adult males of the glassy cutworm, Crymodes devastator (Brace), were attracted to traps baited with equal-part mixtures of Z -11-hexadecen-1-yl acetate, Z -11-hexadecenal and Z -7-dodecen-1-yl acetate. Other species were not attracted to this ternary

(Z)-9-tetradecenyl acetate admixed with (Z)-11-hexadecenyl acetate was found to be a powerful attractant for ♂ Eurois occulta moths. Mixtures containing 20–30% of the 2nd compound gave best capture rates in the field trapping experiments. Twenty-

Cone-orifice traps were found more suitable than sticky traps for capture of 4 moth species with sex attractant lures. Single-cone wind-directional traps were as efficient overall as double-cone fixed traps of similar dimensions. The best orifice dia

Coumarin derivatives are abundant in leaves of Angelicaarchangelica, and differ in kind from those of the roots. Angelicin, bergapten, imperatorin, isopimpinellin, xanthotoxin, oxypeucedanin, and five unidentified coumarins were isolated from leaves.
