Abstract The scarlet runner bean (Phaseolus coccineus) is one of the five domesticated Phaseolus species. It is cultivated in small‐scale agriculture in the highlands of Mesoamerica for its dry seeds and immature pods, and unlike the other domestic

The genetic and phenotypic characterization of crops allows us to elucidate their evolutionary and domestication history, the genetic basis of important traits, and the use of variation present in landraces and wild relatives to enhance resilience. I

Alien invasive species have strategies that can maintain fitness in a variety of environments. This flexibility is associated with environmental tolerance in several traits, such as allocation of resources to shoots versus roots, clonal versus sexual

Background: The domestication process has left signatures in the genomes of domesticated species. Before the existence of molecular markers, only phenotypic traits could be used in domestication studies and breeding programs, but these approaches req

Kalanchoe delagoensis, K. daigremontiana and their hybrid (Houghton’s hybrid) are invasive in tropical regions. One outstanding feature of these Madagascan succulent plants is the growth of clonal propagules from the margin of their leaves. Using e

Abstract The characterization and preservation of genetic variation in crops is critical to meeting the challenges of breeding in the face of changing climates and markets. In recent years, the use of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) has become
