PROX reaction was studied over an unsupported PtSn catalyst. CO 2 and H 2 O were produced from a H 2 flow containing 1% CO, and 0.4–2% O 2 . PtSn pretreated with O 2 and H 2 contained more Pt in the near-surface region and was more active towards C

The effect of oxygen pre-treatment of Ag/SiO 2 catalysts used in the acrolein hydrogenation has been investigated from sub-atmospheric (266 mbar) to 10 bar reaction pressure. The pre-treatment has a profound influence on the overall hydrogenation act

Rh was deposited on to a well-characterized 3.1% Pt/SiO2 (InCat-1) parent catalyst by underpotential deposition method to obtain a model Rh–Pt bimetallic catalyst. TEM and EDS was used to determine its mean particle size and bulk composition: the p

Platinum supported on ceria can oxidize CO in excess hydrogen selectively (PROX process). In situ DRIFTS and high-pressure ( ∼ 1 mbar ) XPS experiments were performed to study the mechanism of the PROX reaction on Pt/ceria catalysts. The partial pr

Ge–Rh/Al2O3 catalysts were prepared by organometallic grafting, with nominal Ge loadings of 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 and 1 monolayer and actual loading of 300, 600, 2000 and 2100 ppm. The dispersion decreased proportionally to the Ge loading up to 600 ppm Ge.

The production of clean hydrogen is a key requirement for a future hydrogen economy, in general, and, specifically, for the application of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC). Here, we focus on one of the essential purification methods, the s

The hydrogenation of 1-pentyne over various palladium catalysts was studied under various conditions. In the regime of selective hydrogenation, as observed by in situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, significant amounts of subsurface carbon and a Pd

Unsupported Pt black reduced by hydrazine looked like an agglomeration of elongated Pt particles, as confirmed by electron microscopy. Cyclic voltammetry indicated the presence of low Miller-index (e.g. {1 0 0} and {1 1 1} facets) as well as terrace

Preferential oxidation of CO in the presence of excess hydrogen was studied on Pt/CeO2 with 5% metal loading. Catalytic data were similar to those observed on 1% Pt/CeO2 earlier [Wootsch et al. J. Catal. 225 (2004) 259]. The optimum temperature regio

The gas-phase hydrogenation of acrolein over silver was studied in a broad pressure range from ∼2 mbar to 20 bar and with various silver materials (single crystals, sputtered silver, silica-supported Ag nanoparticles) in an attempt to examine the q
