The essential oil of Chenopodium botrys, which grows on the eastern slope of the central Sierra Nevada range in California, consists of 90% oxygenated sesquiterpenoids. Major components include α- and β-chenopodiol (36%), eudesma-3, ll-dien-6α-ol

The stem and leaf as well as the fruit oils of Lomatium torreyi show myrcene, β-phellandrene, (Z)-β-ocimene, (E)-β-ocimene and (Z)-ligustilide to be the major components. The root oil is primarily composed of R-(-)-falcarinol (88.0%).
