Vegetative cells of Bacillus subtilis strain SB15 have membrane bound alkaline phosphatase activity. The enzyme purified from glucose-grown cells has greater electrophoretic mobility in 0.1% SDS-polyacrylamide gel than that from lactate grown cells.
