The NASA Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) spacecraft successfully crashed on Dimorphos, the secondary component of the binary (65803) Didymos system. Following the impact, a large dust cloud was released, and a long-lasting dust tail developed

IntroductionLegacy methods which provide us with quantitative information on asteroid composition are based on spectral unmixing or specific spectral parameters (band depths, band areas, positions of band minima). These methods are sensitive to quali

We propose a distributed close-range survey of hundreds of asteroids representing many asteroid families, spectral types and sizes. This can be implemented by a fleet of nanospacecraft (e.g., 4–5-unit CubeSats) equipped with miniature imaging and s

NASA's Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) mission was the first to demonstrate asteroid deflection, and the mission's Level 1 requirements guided its planetary defense investigations. Here, we summarize DART's achievement of those requirements.
