Abstract Background The biomarker serum S100 calcium-binding protein B (S100B) is used in in-hospital triage of adults with mild traumatic brain injury to rule out intracranial lesions. The biomarker glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) is suggeste

BackgroundThe biomarker S100B is used for the rule-out of intracranial lesions in patients with mild traumatic brain injury (TBI) and is suggested for prehospital use in Europe. Early kinetics of S100B are not exhaustively investigated in human TBI.

Background: Cardiac troponins (cTns) are the cornerstone of diagnosing acute myocardial infarction. There is limited knowledge on the duration of ischemia necessary to induce a measurable release of cTns or the very-early-release kinetics of cTns aft

BACKGROUND: Citrullination is the post-translational conversion of arginine into citrulline in proteins. The reaction is catalyzed by peptidylarginine deiminase (PAD), of which five isoforms exist. Fibrinogen is a substrate for PAD2 and PAD4, and cit
