Black tourmalines (general formula XY 3 Z 6 T 6 O 18 (BO 3 ) 3 V 3 W) of various morphologies from miarolitic cavities in pegmatites of the Erongo granite are analysed by Raman spectroscopy and in part by electron microprobe, in order to identify the

We measured the bulk modulus and phase stability of a natural Mn-dolomite, kutnohorite, to 19 GPa. At room temperature, kutnohorite is stable in the rhombohedral dolomite phase up to 19 GPa, with an isothermal bulk modulus of 85(6) GPa ( K ′ = 4).

Tourmalines, XY 3 Z 6 T 6 O 18 (BO 3 ) 3 V 3 W, are excellent petrogenetic indicators as they capture the signature of the host-rock bulk composition. Raman spectra of tourmalines can be used as fingerprints for species identification and crystal-che

Guyanaite, β-CrOOH, is a structural analogue of the high-pressure oxyhydroxide phases δ-AlOOH and ɛ-FeOOH. Here, it was synthesized in piston-cylinder and multi-anvil press experiments at 4–13.5 GPa and 900–1100 °C. The deuterated phase β-Cr

Changes in the band position of the 462 and the 1111 cm–1A1 modes of berlinite (AlPO4) with temperature and pressure were determined in situ to 500°C and to 10 GPa using Raman spectroscopy and diamond-anvil cells. These bands shift in opposite dir

The behavior of ammonium, NH4+, in aqueous systems was studied based on Raman spectroscopic experiments to 600 °C and about 1.3 GPa. Spectra obtained at ambient conditions revealed a strong reduction of the dynamic three-dimensional network of water
