ABSTRACT The gold standard for measuring insulin sensitivity (IS) is the hyperinsulinemic–euglycemic clamp, a time, costly, and labor‐intensive research tool. A low insulin sensitivity is associated with a complication‐risk in type 1 diabetes.

Objective To determine if continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII) therapy is associated with lower glycatedhaemoglobin (HbA1c) variability (long-term glycaemic variability; GV) relative to multiple daily injection (MDI) treatment in adults wi

Despite its widespread clinical use, there is little data available from population-based studies on the determinants of serum sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG). We aimed to examine multifactorial determinants of circulating SHBG levels in communit

Abstract People with diabetes are at risk of chronic complications and novel biomarkers, such as Advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) may help stratify this risk. We assessed whether plasma low-molecular weight AGEs, also known as LMW-fluorophores

Abstract To determine whether continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII) vs. multiple daily injections (MDI) therapy from near-diagnosis of type 1 diabetes is associated with reduced glycaemic variability (GV) and altered microRNA (miRNAs) expre

Abstract The aim of this cross-sectional study was to compare plasma C-peptide presence and levels in people without diabetes (CON) and with Type 1 diabetes and relate C-peptide status to clinical factors. In a subset we evaluated 50 microRNAs (miRs)

Abstract Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). As disturbed angiogenesis and endothelial dysfunction are strongly implicated in T2D and CVD, we aimed to investigate the association between a novel an

Summary: Dicer knockout mouse models demonstrated a key role for microRNAs in pancreatic β-cell function. Studies to identify specific microRNA(s) associated with human (pro-)endocrine gene expression are needed. We profiled microRNAs and key pancre
