Current object segmentation algorithms are based on the hypothesis that one has access to a very large amount of data. In this paper, we aim to segment objects using only tiny datasets. To this extent, we propose a new automatic part-based object seg

Moving cast shadows are a major concern for foreground detection algorithms. The processing of foreground images in surveillance applications typically requires that such shadows be identified and removed from the detected foreground. This paper pres

Motion compensation using deformable triangle patches has been successfully used for low bit rate coding of videophone sequences. They were also shown to be particularly efficient for interframe coding of MRI sequences, for which the difference betwe

A method for calibrating IFTS scanning moving targets is presented. The unmodulated components of the interferograms are preserved during the process. A calibrated data cube is obtained while keeping the contrast between the targets and background.

Motion estimation is used to align the frames resulting from an imaging FTS for astronomy scanning a moving target. An off-axis correction algorithm is then applied on the resulted spectrum to correct for the non uniform off-axis distortion.

Video coding algorithms using block motion compensation were first developed for progressively scanned sequences and as such, are not entirely suitable for interlaced sequences In this paper we present a new approach for block-based coding of interla

Two algorithms for block motion estimation that produce performance similar to that of exhaustive search but with computation reduced by a factor of 8 or 16 are presented. The algorithms are based on motion-field and pixel subsampling. A subsampled m

An approach to the lossy compression of color images with limited palette that does not require color quantization of the decoded image is presented. The algorithm is particularly suited for coding images using an image-dependent palette. The techniq

This paper presents an algorithm to align the frames obtained with a non-stationary imaging Fourier transform spectrometer (IFTS). These frames contain both relative motion and intensity variation due to the interference pattern of the IFTS called in

Motion estimation is used to align the frames resulting from a non-stationary imaging Fourier transform spectrometer. This motion correction is expected to increase the spectral resolution, or retrieve an undistorted spectrum.
