A plasmonic 1 × 2 beamsplitter based on the self-imaging effect is analysed. The simulations were performed by a 3-D full-vectorial numerical calculation. We discuss the coupling efficiency depending on structural parameters and on the attenuation.

In this article, we examine spectral transmission characteristics based on the self-imaging effect in plasmonic multimode waveguides. For the analysis, we calculate the correlation between an input field and the field in the self-imaging plane. We pe

The band structures of hexagonal photonic crystals with finite height are determined in this paper. Three-dimensional, full vectorial calculations are performed with the Method of Lines as numerical algorithm. To describe the boundaries of the elemen

Subwavelength apertures in a metallic film act as hollow waveguides. By using a non-quadratic cross-section, an anisotropic transmission behaviour results for the two polarization states. Thus, an array of metallic subwavelength apertures may be used

Coupling of THz radiation at 625 GHz onto a copper wire is demonstrated. The end-fire technique is used in combination with an axicon to excite the azimuthally polarised surface plasmon polaritons on the wire‘s front facet. A small lateral offset o

The material characteristics in the THz-domain are an outstanding issue that challenge the development of suitable waveguides. It was shown that a simple metallic wires can provide waveguding with low attenuation and low dispersion. However, the need

We analyze the propagation of surface plasmons in metallic multimode waveguides that consist of alternating stripes of different metals in the transverse direction and that are homogeneous in the longitudinal direction. The purpose of structuring the

We present studies on the propagation of plasmon waves in metallic multimode waveguides surrounded by a dielectric medium. The permittivity of the metal was determined by a Drude model. The propagation was simulated by the method of lines. The propag

Numerical studies of the self-imaging phenomenon ("Talbot-effect") as an example of multimode propagation in plasmonic waveguides were performed. For a suitable choice of the parameters the field remains finite after several Talbot lengths.
