Abstract Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) analysis has emerged as a clinically useful tool for cancer diagnostics and treatment monitoring. However, ctDNA detection is complicated by low DNA concentrations and technical challenges. Here we describe our

Obesity is linked to cancer risk in post-menopausal breast cancer. At the molecular level this is governed by cellular adaption to palmitic acid through epigenetic activation of a C/EBPB-dependent transcriptional network that drives tumor formation.

Abstract Cancer‐associated fibroblasts are essential modifiers of the tumor microenvironment. The collagen‐binding integrin α11β1 has been proposed to be upregulated in a pro‐tumorigenic subtype of cancer‐associated fibroblasts. Here, we an

Changes in body mass index (BMI) during infancy and childhood follow a well-characterized pattern. Here, Helgeland et al. perform genome-wide association studies for BMI at 12 time points between birth and 8 years of age and find transient associatio

Abstract Background Reliable methods are needed to identify patients with early-stage cancer or high-grade precancerous lesions in the pancreas. Analysis of pancreatic juice to detect somatic mutations could represent one such approach. Here we inves

The metabolic network of sphingolipids plays important roles in cancer biology. Prominent sphingolipids include ceramides and sphingosine-1-phosphate that regulate multiple aspects of growth, apoptosis, and cellular signaling. Although a significant
