An effective approach to 14-membered hexaaza macrocycles based on BF3-catalyzed amidoalkylation of 2-(trimethylsilyloxy)propene followed by reaction of the obtained 4-(3-oxobutyl)semicarbazones with N2H4 and TsOH-promoted cyclization is reported.
