With chronic disease prevalence on the rise globally, surveillance and monitoring are critical to improving health outcomes. Point-of-care (POC) testing can facilitate epidemiological research and enhance surveillance systems in limited resource sett

We present a thermal velocity sampling method for calculating Doppler-broadened atomic spectra, which more efficiently reaches convergence than regular velocity weighted sampling. The method uses equal-population sampling of the 1D thermal distributi

The recent redefinition of the SI bolsters the push towards quantum-based sensors. Rydberg atoms provide a natural link between atomic quantities and electromagnetic fields, where direct absolute measurements can be challenging. We review recent demo

Abstract Susceptibility to prion diseases is largely determined by the sequence of the prion protein gene (PRNP), which encodes the prion protein (PrP). The recent emergence of chronic wasting disease (CWD) in Europe has highlighted the need to inves

A growing body of literature has explored the impact of Parkinson’s disease (PD) on fitness to drive. As such, evidence now supports the use of specific clinical tests for screening purposes, the predictive validity of risk impressions, and the cri

We investigate the Stark shift in Rydberg rubidium atoms through electromagnetically induced transparency for the measurement of direct current (dc) and 60 Hz alternating current (ac) voltages. This technique has direct application to the calibration

We determine DC and AC electric field strengths through measurements of Stark shifts in Rydberg electromagnetically-induced transparency. This demonstrates the potential for Rydberg atom-based calibrations of AC/DC voltage sources from 0-12 V.

Rydberg atoms in a vapor cell are used to measure the angle-of-arrival (AoA) of an incident radio-frequency plane wave through sub-wavelength phase measurements using a heterodyne technique.
