Previous studies have demonstrated that the mesoporosity of carbon material obtained by the Starbon® process from starch-formed by amylose and amylopectin can be tuned by controlling this ratio (the higher the amylose, the higher the mesoporosity).

Graphene Oxide (GO) nanosheets have been covalently functionalized with Poly(Bisphenol A-co-epichlorohydrin) (PBE) a polymer structurally analogous to polycarbonate and derived from Bisphenol-A. PBE-functionalized-GO (PBE-GO) was utilized to form PBE

The covalent functionalization of exfoliated hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) nanosheets by nitrene addition is described. Integration of functionalized h-BN nanosheets within a polycarbonate matrix is demonstrated and was found to afford significant i

Graphite oxide was prepared by oxidation of graphite using the Hummers method, and its ultrasonication in water yielded dispersed graphene oxide (GO) sheets. These sheets were then crosslinked with a water soluble polymer, namely poly (allylamine) hy

Cu 2 O nanocubes (edge length of 6 to 250 nm) have been produced by annealing a copper grid at 300 °C in air with the presence of tetraoctylammonium bromide (TOAB)-stabilized gold nanoparticles. The microstructure of the nanocubes has been investiga

Electrical measurements on highly conducting bamboolike DNA-templated gold nanowires provide a precise determination of the enhanced resistivity, which can be adequately accounted for by considering reasonable grain boundary scattering and some surfa

The use of DNA to template the assembly of gold nanowires from gold nanoparticles is reported. Double-stranded calf thymus DNA, was deposited on a polystyrene-coated silicon wafer substrate. The substrate was then exposed to an aqueous dispersion of
