Quantum confined ultrathin nanosheets of In2S3 were synthesized from a new structurally characterized molecular precursor. The prototype photoelectrochemical cell based on the material exhibited high photostability and photoresponsivity.

Phase pure Cu1.8Se and Ag2Se nanostructures were synthesized employing novel single source molecular precursors at relatively low temperature. These materials exhibit good photoresponsivity and stability under alternating light and dark conditions.

A facile synthetic route to access phase pure Sb2S3 and Cu12Sb4S13 nanostructures from a new molecular precursor Sb(4,6-Me2pymS)3 has been established. These nanostructures demonstrate high photoresponsivity with fast switching characteristics.

Cu2GeS3 nanostructures were successfully synthesized at mild conditions via the co-thermolysis of Cu and Ge isopropylxanthates. Photoelectrochemical cell based on this material exhibited photovoltaic activity with high photostability.
