Mitochondria are energy-producing organelles that not only satisfy the high metabolic demands of the kidney but sense and respond to kidney injury-induced oxidative stress and inflammation. Kidneys are rich in mitochondria. Mitochondrial dysfunction

Summary: Developing strategies that promote the resolution of vascular inflammation and atherosclerosis remains a major therapeutic challenge. Here, we show that exosomes produced by naive bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDM-exo) contain anti-infla

Cigarette smoke (CS) exposure is a risk factor for many chronic diseases including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), however the mechanism by which smoke exposure can alter homeostasis and bring about chronic inflammation is poorly unders

Vascular injury is a well-established, disease-modifying factor in acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) pathogenesis. Recently, coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-induced injury to the vascular compartment has been linked to complement activat

Vascular injury is a menacing element of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) pathogenesis. To better understand the role of vascular injury in COVID-19 ARDS, we used lung autopsy immunohistochemistry and blood proteomics from COVID-19 subjects

We tested the role of endothelial dysfunction in the development of COPD/emphysema. We found that restoration of lung endothelial cells and blockade of endothelial-derived leucine-rich α-2-glycoprotein perturbs the pathogenesis of COPD/emphysema.
