We present a genome assembly from an individual Alitta virens (the King Ragworm; Annelida; Polychaeta; Phyllodocida; Nereididae). The genome sequence is 671.2 megabases in span. Most of the assembly is scaffolded into 14 chromosomal pseudomolecules.

Interpreting how far organisms within fossil assemblages may have been transported and if they all originated from the same location is fundamental to understanding whether they represent true palaeocommunities. In a three-factorial experimental desi

We examined the influence of prey density and fish size on prey consumption in common sole (Solea solea L.) foraging on buried ragworm Alitta virens (Sars) (formerly known as Nereis virens (Sars)). The tested prey densities of 0.8, 2.2, 4.3 and 6.5 i

The exceptionally preserved fossils entombed in the deposits of sediment-gravity flows in the Cambrian Burgess Shale of British Columbia have been fundamental for understanding the origin of major animal groups during the Cambrian explosion. More rec

Ocean acidification (OA) has the potential to alter the bioavailability of pH sensitive metals contaminating coastal sediments, particularly copper, by changing their speciation in seawater. Hence OA may drive increased toxicity of these metals to co

Increasing oil and gas activities may substantially increase chemical stress to benthic ecosystems in the Arctic, and it is necessary to evaluate such environmental risks in these systems. Risk assessment procedures for oil‐related compounds (e.g.,

Polychaete worms are rich sources of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) and are increasingly incorporated into aquaculture broodstock diets. Conventionally, the build-up of PUFA in polychaetes was considered passive, with direct accumulation along th
