Although cold heavy oil production with sands (CHOPS) is an economically attractive method, ultimate recovery does not exceed 15%. Cyclic solvent injection (CSI) has been under consideration as a follow-up EOR application in the industry. This method

Monitoring data of episodic transient heat and flow conditions, caused by intermittent cold CO2 injection in Aquistore, has shown a linkage between injectivity index and downhole injection temperature. Taking leverage access to invaluable field perfo

Summary An uncertainty-screening procedure was performed to assess the feasibility of cyclic solvent stimulation as a post-cold heavy-oil production with sands (CHOPS) enhanced-oil-recovery (EOR) method. To achieve this, three cycles of cyclic solven

We study the influence of wettability on the morphology of fluid-fluid displacement through analog porous media in the limit of vanishing flow rates. We introduce an invasion-percolation model that considers cooperative pore filling and corner-flow m

Summary With the current interest in exploiting thin unconsolidated heavy-oil reservoirs, cold heavy-oil production with sand (CHOPS) can be considered to be a promising primary-recovery technique. However, it offers low recovery factors (~5-15%) and
